it’s the little things

When involved in a project as big, and yet as intimate and sometimes a bit lonely, as self-publishing a cookbook, it’s important to take the little moments of excitement and hug them to your heart.

Like a page-marking ribbon.

Why didn’t I to this for Volume One?  I think I felt it was something expensive and serious, perhaps a bit too grown-up for us.  But this time around, I jumped in with both feet and just asked Andrew, my beloved printer, how much such an extravagance would set me back.

Six pence.  As in, 8 cents.

Done!  I was sent many, many colour choices, and Briony and I pored over them, trying to think what would be set off and contrast with the darkish blueish grey of the main cover and spine.  I won’t spoil the surprise for you, but it’s very exciting.

Then Briony sent me her brilliant, magical 3D image of both volumes!  I can show you Volume One.

Isn’t it thrilling?  It will be such fun to share them both as sister images, once our official launch happens on May 21.

Of course that is two days after our house move.  Are we made?  Probably.  But we’ll survive.
