Homemade Plum Sauce

Homemade Plum Sauce (from this website)
(makes a little over a cup)
  • 1 cup plum jam or plum preserves
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon onion, minced
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Pinch of salt
Mix all ingredients and simmer in a small saucepan for about five minutes, whisking constantly.  If the sauce is not used right away, it may stiffen, and can be resurrected with a little very hot or boiling water.
